Great place with entertainment and fabulous food. The staff are second to none

New Year's Eve dinner 2025/26. Let's start with the reservation, which we made directly via WhatsApp to the owner. She provided very little information, and it was almost impossible to tell they had accepted the reservation. Upon arrival, she complained that we hadn't chosen the menu in advance, even though we weren't even aware of the need to reserve the menu. Immediately afterward, she demanded immediate payment in cash, complaining about the excessively high taxes and costs on New Year's Eve. After a brief discussion, she accepted payment by card. Food: the appetizer was acceptable; the first course: seafood "risotto" was cold and wasn't risotto; it was rice made a long time ago and now cold. The second course of fish was acceptable. One of our two second courses had a hair on the plate, but that can happen. After paying for two beers, the owner was annoyed by the payment in cash and insisted we pay by card. A similar situation occurred at the table next to ours, with cold food and the owner being unhelpful. I strongly advise against it; the management is new and has nothing to do with the old, positive reviews.

The restaurant was dead- no customers, wayyy over double near triple what other restaurants were charging in the area. We talked about leaving after looking at the menu prices and I wish we did! The waiter tried to charge us extra for “complimentary” focaccia (which was a thin dry frozen pizza base with salt and rosemary chucked on top -no oil or actual focaccia bread) and for chips we didn’t eat. I asked for a beef fillet with rocket and Parmesan and they gave me a fatty, thin, overcooked slice of pork as I think the waiter did not understand. I asked if the dish came with chips or salad as the price was £650 egp. He said yes. The chips never came with my slice of pork so I asked for them. They arrived ten minutes later after I had been able to eat my half a slice of pork due to the large fatty edge. The chips were not even crispy, they were saturated in oil and not even edible. There was no rocket in sight only a child’s version of a tower with cucumber to put something else on the plate and dry red cabbage. He then tried to charge us well over the original price with service charge! We had to get him to add it up infront of us with a calculator as he was clearly trying to rob us blind and did not write prices on the receipt. He also did not write the bill out in English. I left hungry and frustrated. I don’t understand why this place has good reviews! It’s very misleading. It is not a gastro pub it’s a fake Italian attempt and I doubt the chefs or the owner has ever actually been to Italy with the sight of the food they served us. I wish I took photos.
