Oonas Dive Club

Old hotel. Everything needs updating. Staff are rude. The only plus is its moderate proximity to the sea.

Stayed at Oonas for a week while doing my scuba course there. The staff at both hotel/restaurant and dive center are super friendly. Everything went smoothly. Can't wait to go back.

I chose this hotel because of reviews from Japanese people. It's old but has a nice, clean feel. The futon was very thin, and it was cold, so I took out a blanket from the closet, but it smelled sour and stinky. The water pressure in the shower was fine. There was no hair dryer in the room, so I had to borrow one from the reception, but it seemed like a good, solid dryer with a strong wind, which was great for me since I have long hair. There was no elevator, so it was quite difficult to carry my large, nearly 20kg carry-on bag up the stairs. They carried it for me when I checked in. It's not bad for people who just want to sleep cheaply, but it might be a bit more difficult for women.

Located on the Naama Bay seafront, in an excellent location, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and it's very clean. It has a diving center with PADI-certified courses. It has a well-run bar and restaurant offering simple but tasty dishes. The only drawback is that it doesn't accept credit cards, but there is an ATM nearby where you can withdraw cash. I recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place.
